Our weight loss program consists of several different modalities. These modalities consist of:
1. Zerona Laser Treatments
2. Prescription Medication
3. Supplements
4. Food Plans
5. Behaviour Modification/Accountability
Each of these modalities are explained in detail below. Clients should schedule a consult with Dr. Whitelaw to determine which of these treatments meet their needs.
Zerona Laser
The Zerona laser is the latest advancement in fat reduction. The Zerona is an FDA approved low-level laser that is painless and non-invasive. Patients choose the areas they would like to target and receive six treatments over two weeks. Each session lasts 40 minutes – twenty minutes on each side. It is so comfortable that patients read a book or nap during their sessions!
The Zerona plan is a four week program combining detoxing, our food program and the Zerona treatments. Eligible clients who follow this program are guaranteed to lose at least two inches or they receive a Full Refund of their Zerona treatments. Many patients will lose even more!

Prescription Medication
Sometimes it's hard to lose weight without a little additional support or boost in metabolism. For those with a high BMI, medication such as Adipex or Meridia may be prescribed.
Supplements
It is important to take adequate supplements when undergoing a weight loss program. Since many over-the-counter vitamins and supplements actually provide very little benefit, it is important to obtain your vitamins from a recognized, tested lab and in a form which will be utilized by your body.
To enroll in any of these programs you should be taking at least a good multivitamin and mineral supplement. Blood tests can be done to measure vitamin and antioxidant levels and supplements tailored to your needs.

Behaviour Modification/Accountability
Okay, you didn’t actually think you were going to make it through a weight loss program without exercise. The idea of these programs is to give you a jump start on weight loss. However, without implementing exercise and healthy eating habits and continuing this lifestyle, the weight will just come back.
Daily Log: It is important to keep a daily log of calorie and fiber intake and amount of exercise. This has proven to be important for changing habits.
Exercise: It may be better for you to walk for an hour or more than to do a 30 minute intense workout. Wear a pedometer and keep track of the number of steps – strive for 10,000/day. If you are a long way off from that, try to increase by 200 steps/day. Wearing a weighted vest or weighted shoes will intensify your walking.
Sleep: Adequate sleep is important for weight loss. Avoid alcohol before bedtime. Take Melatonin, a great antioxidant, if you have trouble falling asleep. Learn relaxation exercises and use these not only at night but during the day instead of food to combat anxiety.
Fiber: Try to get at least 25 grams of fiber each day. This will not only help weight loss but stave off constipation from dietary changes. Supplement with fiber tabs, etc… If you just have to have chocolate, buy a bar made with sugar alcohol as they have a natural laxative effect.
Toxins: persistence of symptoms may indicate the presence of high levels of toxins. Blood tests can determine the level of lead, nickel, cadmium, etc… and detoxification by IV or suppositories can be discussed.
Hypothyroidism: failure to lose weight may also be a sign of hypothyroidism. Simple blood tests can determine if optimal thyroid hormone level is present.
